The Aboriginal Gathering Place is a new facility on Selkirk College’s Castlegar campus devoted to enhancing services, providing a welcoming and supportive environment to Aboriginal learners. The design of this timber frame and steel structure was inspired by traditional Aboriginal community spaces, and aids in the promotion of understanding of Aboriginal culture, tradition, and ceremony.
The Sacred Heart Parish holds several weekly worship services and provides pastoral care to citizens of Rossland and vicinity. The renovation project encompassed upgrades to the original church building, built in 1915. It included a new commercial kitchen area, receiving spaces, and multi-function areas.
The RDKB (Regional District of Kootenay Boundary) facility supports the governance of this BC southern interior regional district, which encompasses over 8,000 sq.km. and home to 30,000 residents. The attached fire hall is the base of the Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue, Company 4, which provides emergency protective services to the City of Trail and vicinity. The extensive renovation, addition and modernization of this building included a new mechanical system and support of RTUs.
