This modern state-of-the-art dental clinic was formerly Nelson’s old Scandinavian Church, built in 1933, and later used as a Mexican restaurant and performance space. The renovation included foundation upgrades, a new main floor structure, upgrades to the entire existing roof structure to support current snow loads, and repairs to much of the existing original structure while still honouring the historical value of the building.
Multiple renovations, modernizations, and upgrades to the existing historical red-brick fire hall building have been completed over the past decade, including renovations to the firefighter’s dormitory housed on the second floor of the building, new retaining walls and repairs to existing walls. Our work has also included a complete structural assessment of the existing structure, including a seismic review of the oldest fire hall in the province of British Columbia.
The Beaver Valley Nursery School provides a rich learning environment to about 65 pre-school children who live in the Beaver Valley area. The original one-room school was constructed in 1910. The recent renovations included a new foundation system, which facilitated levelling of the existing wood frame superstructure, and subsequent modernization.
